Tribhuvan University Teachers' Association (TUTA) on Tuesday has called for holding Tribhuvan University (TU) senate meeting immediately.
Nepal Teachers' Association, organizing a press conference at Reporter's Club Nepal, has demanded that the TU senate meeting be called immediately to solve the problems of TU.
The TU senate meeting scheduled for May 6 was postponed due to health issue of TU Chancellor and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
"It has been seven years that our association could not elect a new leadership showing various excuses. TU will play role in electing new working committee in some few days. I also demand that TU senate meeting be held soon," Chairman of TUTA Yogendra Narayan Badabariya said.
Similarly, former vice-chancellor of Pokhara University and TUTA chairman Prof. Khagendra Bhattarai opined that the legacy of TUTA has been wiped out.
Stating that TUTA has carried the history since 2019 BS, Bhattarai said the government has to take the problems of TU seriously.
Arun Chaudhary, chairman of Minbhawan Campus, Baneshwor from TUTA Valley Committee, demanded that the TU senate meeting be called within second week of Jestha.
Acting General Secretary Nanda Kishor Singh also put his views on the occasion.
