Morang Police on Sunday has detained DSP Prajit KC of Metropolitan Police Crime Division.
The probe committee formed under Ministry of Home Affairs summoned KC to record his statement on 33.5 kg of undeclared gold and disappearance of Sanam Shakya.
KC had given his statement to the committee on Saturday and Sunday. "The committee later issued the directive to keep him under detention after finding out his statement unsatisfactory," a police source informed.
Following the death of Shakya, a team led by KC had reached Siraha, Sunsari and Morang.
Earlier, the committee had recommended to transfer Diwas Lohani, then chief at Division and KC.
Three people including Shakya, who were allegedly involved in gold smuggling, lost their lives while high-level police officials including former DIG Govinda Niraula are also found to be involved in gold smuggling case.
