19th Ghalegaun Festival from May 6

The 19th Ghalegaun Festival is going to be organized from May 6 at Ghalegaun, known as the model village of South Asia. Ghalegaun Rural Tourism Management Committee is organizing the three-day festival in keeping with the tradition. Organising a press conference at Besishahar Monday, the Committee informed about the festival. Ghalegaun is organizing the festival since 19 years with an objective of promoting tourism by publicizing local art, culture and village lifestyle. Saying the previous festivals have helped in promoting the village, the organizers said that this festival would give a message of economic prosperity. Various programs including Gurung Food Festival, sightseeing, and observation of Gurung Museum, the tea garden, local home stay and rural tourism are the part of festival. More than 25,000 domestic and foreign tourists visit the Ghalegaun every year. The concept of rural tourism was introduced in Ghalegaun for the first time 19 years ago.
