The Bagmati Tirtha Yatra or Bagmati Pilgrimage will begin from Monday after a gap of 40 years. The pilgrimages will begin after holding religious rituals and Rudripooja (prayer of lord Shiva) at the Pashupatinath temple.
The pilgrimage had stopped since 2034 BS after the Bagmati River got polluted due to human encroachment.
The 17-day pilgrimage is normally held from Katuwal daha of Bagmati to Bagdwar. But it will begin with a journey of only seven days.
As the part of the journey, pilgrims will reach 165 shrine places and offer worships there.
The Bagmati clean-up mega campaign has contributed to resume the historical pilgrimage.
