The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has initiated consultations with the bodies concerned for pursuing the reconstruction of the historic Dharahara which was destroyed by the earthquake on April 25, 2015.
NRA has started discussions on the reconstruction of the iconic monument after Nepal Telecom backed off from its earlier commitment to reconstruct it.
A meeting was held in this connection on Thursday which was chaired by Chief Executive Officer of NRA Yubaraj Bhusal.
On the occasion, CEO Bhusal stressed on starting the reconstruction of the Dharahara at the earliest by completing all the technical preparations that are required to be done prior to the reconstruction.
NRA spokesman Yamlal Bhusal said discussions were on regarding the technical aspects including drawing design. He said the reconstruction of the Dharahara would be started after the technicalities are finalised.
Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister Mahendra Man Gurung, NRA secretary Madhusudan Adhikari, executive members Dr Hariram Parajuli, Dr Chandra Bahadur Shrestha, Dhruba Prasad Sharma, Bishnu Bhandari, chief of the Central Project Implementation Unit, Dundu Raj Ghimire and director general of the Department of Archaeology, Bhesh Narayan Dahal, among other members of the expert group, were present in the meeting.
