Ballot boxes of eleven districts of the total 45 districts that went for the second round of elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies on Thursday are being collected.
The result of the first phase of federal and provincial elections that was conducted on November 26 is underway.
As per the latest information provided by the General Election Observation Committee (GEOC) at 10 am Friday, ballot boxes of 20 polling stations of Terhathum, 18 of Sindhuli, three of Kavrepalanchowk, 13 of 112 of Nawalparasi and 151 of Pyuthan are yet to be collected.
Meanwhile, ballot boxes of 33 polling stations of Salyan, 22 of Dailekh, eight of Surkhet, 22 of Doti, 14 of Kailali, 21 of Dadeldhura are been collected at the respective district headquarters.
The Election Commission has informed that the vote counting in Manang, Mustang and Rukum (East) has been concluded. CPN (Maoist Center) candidates representing the left alliance have won both the Provincial Assembly seats in Rukum east. In the Provincial Assembly constituency 'A', Tej Bahadur Oli of the left alliance won with 5,427 votes and his nearest rival was NC candidate Duta Kumar Pun who secured 2,144 votes.
Likewise, in constituency 'B', Purna Bahadur Gharti of the CPN (Maoist Center) defeated NC candidate Dutta Bahadur Basnet with a margin of 2,705 votes. Gharti secured 5,816 votes while Basnet bagged 3,111 votes, according to Chief Returning Officer Durga Bahadur Bhusal. Kamala Roka, also of the CPN(Maoist Center) was elected to the House of Representatives from the district. The vote counting of House of Representatives and State Assemblies under the PR system is underway.
It further said that the vote counting of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur districts will begin shortly.
