Supreme Court Justice Hari Prasad Phuyal has revealed that he and other judges reported Inam Sapkota, who is in custody for investigation in a money laundering case, after Sapkota allegedly approached them seeking to influence cases within the judiciary.
On Thursday, some media outlets published details of conversations between Sapkota and Justice Phuyal.
The leaked messages reportedly show that Sapkota had sent a message to Justice Phuyal stating, "The prime minister has asked Rohit Gupta to be kept in custody."
In response, Justice Phuyal allegedly replied that Gupta had already been released on bail and suggested meeting at Hotel Himalaya at 7 p.m.
Justice Phuyal is currently embroiled in controversy after these messages were leaked.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Phuyal said that Sapkota had also contacted other judges. He said that they decided to report Sapkota after the latter began pressuring judges and asking them to intervene in court cases.
