Three people were injured in a clash between the cadres of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML near the Balkot-based Ganesh Primary Secondary School Voting Center in the Suryabinayak Municipality-3 Thursday under the Bhaktapur constituency-2 during the second phase of elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies.
The injured are receiving treatment at the Shankhadhar Chowk-based Madhyapur Hospital, according to the police.
The Congress representatives have accused the UML cadres of approaching the party cadres and picking up a quarrel while the UML's claim is that it was the NC cadres who came to have a dispute with them first.
Following the verbal exchanges, the two sides had a clash, ran away from the polling center and hurled stones at each other upon reaching the nearby Rose Village.
The window glasses of nearly 15 houses have been broken due to the pelting of stones and the local residents are terrorized.
According to Deputy Superintendent Krishna Prasain of the Metropolitan Police Range Bhaktapur, voting is underway at the disputed polling center and it has not been suspended.
Meanwhile, a bomb has been found under a bridge between Kaushaltar and Balkot. A bomb disposal squad of the Nepal Army has defused the bomb, police said.
