Nepal has proposed to update the existing the 2008 MoU on Labor Issue and to form the Joint Technical Committee on Labor with Bahrain.
Ambassador of Nepal to the Kingdom of Bahrain Padam Sundas made this proposal in a meeting with Jameel Bin Mohamed Ali Hamaidan, the Minister for Labor and Social Development of the Kingdom of Bahrain when he paid a courtesy call on the Bahrain Minister at West Tower, Bahrain Financial Harbour in Manama on December 4.
On the occasion, the Bahrain Minister for Labor and Social Development welcomed the Ambassador to his office and highlighted on the policies and practices on labor and social development of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Minister Hamaidan noted the proposal positively and further underscored the need to revise the MoU in line with new provisions and requirements, the Embassy of Nepal in Manama stated in a press release.
Hamaidan stated that Bahrain tries to be a model in the GCC to fight any kind of discriminations and to make sure that every person is treated well. While highlighting on labor mobility and flexible provisions, the Minister informed that Bahrain is committed to safeguarding the labor rights.
During the meeting, Ambassador Sundas expressed his gratitude to the Government of Bahrain for cooperation and support extended to Nepalese nationals in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Deputy Head of Mission Khaga Raj Pandeya and Labor Attache Jagadish Chandra Shiwakoti were also present during the meeting.
