A temporary policeman injured in the bomb blast near the election rally attended by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City, Dang Tuesday afternoon has died.
Binod Chaudhary, 23, of Tulsipur-3 breathed his last at Kohalpur Medical College in Banke at around 2:30 Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment, according to chief of Area Police Office, Tulsipur DSP Sudhir Raj Shahi. Chaudhary was referred to Kohalpur by Rapti Zonal Hospital on Tuesday.
Another temporary policeman, also named Binod Chaudhary, of Tulsipur-18 was also injured in the bomb blast at around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon in a busy road just 150 meters away from Arniko Ground where PM Deuba had reached minutes earlier to address the election program.
Three out of the other eight persons injured in the incident are still critical. Jenny DC, 23, of Tulsipur-7, Devi Kumari DC, 40, of Bagchour rural municipality 4 of Salyan, and Bam Raj Sunar, 40, of Tulsipur-17 are in critical condition and are undergoing treatment in Kohalpur, according to the police.
Sunita Chaudhari, 18, of Babai rural municipality 6, Narpani Budathoki, 45, of Dhorchaur rural municipality 2, Salyan, Nev Bahadur Khatri, 36, of Babai rural municipality 6, and Hem Raj Ramjali, 50, of Shantinagar rural municipality 2 are the other persons injured in the incident. They were treated at the Rapti Zonal Hospital in Tulsipur and almost all of them have been discharged, according to the police.
A person threw away the bomb he had hidden and fled away in a motorcycle on which another person was waiting for him, according to eyewitnesses.
