The Election Commission (EC) on Friday has sought clarification from RPP Chairman Kamal Thapa after he canvassed for votes on Twitter.
The Election Code of Conduct Central Committee under the EC has given Thapa 24 hours to sumbit his explanation after he canvassed for votes for his party Friday morning even as the silent period for the first phase of election scheduled for Sunday had already started from Thursday midnight.
Deputy Prime Minister Thapa had asked the voters to vote for his party in proportional representation (PR) system in the morning.

The letter for explanation has also been copied to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and RPP.
Thapa has deleted the tweets since and tweeted "I have deleted the election-centered tweets I posted this morning after Election Commission drew my attention. I am fully committed to complying with election code of conduct.
