The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairman Anupraj Sharma has expressed concerns about the future of children whose birth registration has not taken place due to lack of citizenships of their parents.
Speaking at a program organized in the capital on Thursday, Sharma said that the Constitution of Nepal has guaranteed children's birth registration as their legal right adding that the right of a child would not be established until the perceptions, custom and working style were changed.
On the occasion, Executive Director of Central Child Welfare Board Tarak Dhital said that programs for the capacity building of the local levels and awareness raising of the parents should be taken ahead together.
Other speakers on the occasion said that said that children-friendly talks should be emphasized from the local levels to the central level to link the issue of child protection.
