Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has warned that the beginning of the party's downfall would begin if it started turning the overwhelming mandate given by the people into arrogance.
Speaking at an event held in Chitwan on Friday, Lamichhane said that the power entrusted to the party by the people must be transformed into a sense of responsibility.
"Today, the people have given us enormous power, but great power also comes with great responsibility. If we start turning the power we received through public trust into arrogance, that will mark the beginning of our downfall," he said. "We must never forget that we are people of this very soil. Winning an election does not make us special creatures."
He added that people had voted for them not to become bosses, but to serve them even more.
Lamichhane also said that the party must stay away from a culture of arrogance, abuse of office, and political pressure.
"Just because we faced injustice in the past does not mean it is right to seek revenge today by using power and access," he said.
