Former lawmaker Dhawal Shumsher Rana, who recently resigned as general secretary of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), and medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai are set to launch a new political party together.
Rana, Prasai, and their associates are scheduled to officially announce the new party on August 13. They also plan to submit an application to the Election Commission for the party’s registration on the same day.
Before forming the new party, they had formed various committees to prepare for the launch. Leader Sagun Lawati informed Setopati that a meeting of one of these committees held on Wednesday decided to establish a party named Jaya Nepal.
“We are launching a new party. The party’s name will be Jaya Nepal, and we plan to go to the Election Commission on August 13,” he said.
According to Lawati, it has already been agreed that Rana will be the party’s chairman, while Prasai will serve as its supreme leader.
Rana quit the RPP on May 31. He was joined by 185 leaders from various levels of the party.
Prasai, a medical entrepreneur who has led the Rastra, Rastriyata, Dharma, Sanskriti Tatha Nagarik Bachau Maha Abhiyan for the past few years, also supported Rana in forming the new party.
After Rana and Prasai reached an agreement on June 5 to establish a new party, Prasai dissolved his campaign.
