Dhawal Shumsher Rana, who recently left the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has claimed that the party has lost its legitimacy.
After RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden issued a public appeal urging Rana to rejoin the party and participate in its upcoming general convention, Rana responded with a statement asserting that the party's legitimacy expired on June 2.
The RPP held its general convention in 2021. Under the party's statute, the term of the leadership is four years.
Based on a provision that allows for an extension of up to one year under special circumstances, the term was extended by six months in November. According to Rana, that extended period ended on Tuesday, June 2.
"The additional six-month period extended by the central working committee also expired yesterday, on June 2. The party has lost its legitimacy," Rana said in his statement.
