Prof Dr Jayant Nath Khanal has been nominated as the chief secretary of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
According to party spokesperson Mohan Shrestha, Chairman Rajendra Lingden nominated Khanal to the post of chief secretary on Sunday in accordance with the party's statute.
Khanal served at Tribhuvan University for a long period.
Prior to this appointment, he was a member of the party's central committee and served as the chairman of the party-affiliated Academic Council.
The position was previously held by Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, who faced legal charges regarding irregularities in the construction of Pokhara International Airport.
