A five-member probe committee has been formed to ascertain the current status of land within the demarcated boundaries of Phewa Lake in Pokhara.
The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation formed the committee on Monday, with the director general of the Department of Land Management and Archive as its coordinator.
The committee is tasked with studying the present condition of the land and any structures built within the lake's four boundaries.
Preparations are underway to collect and document verified details of all land plots falling within the Phewa Lake area.
According to the ministry, a detailed study will be carried out regarding the state of both private and government land within the Phewa Lake area, their registration status, and their usage.
The ministry stated that the committee was formed to make the conservation and management of the Phewa Lake area more effective.
According to the ministry, the committee has been given seven days to prepare and submit a comprehensive report, including verified details of all land plots within the lake's territory.
Recently, after Prime Minister Balen Shah showed a keen interest in the conservation of Phewa Lake, Pokhara Metropolitan City launched a campaign to clear the encroached areas of the lake.
