Acting United States Ambassador to Nepal, Megan Boldin, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Balen Shah at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Wednesday.
During the meeting, PM Shah expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the US government for its solidarity with and support for Nepal during the difficult circumstances caused by the disaster, according to the prime minister’s secretariat.
The prime minister said that the disaster had affected both Nepali and foreign nationals.
He also said that Nepal had to face the disaster as an impact of climate change. He stressed the need to further strengthen global cooperation and collective efforts to reduce climate-related disaster risks and address their impacts.
The prime minister also discussed Nepal’s unique tourism potential and opportunities for mutual benefit through the development of the tourism sector, saying that Nepal would always welcome US investment.
During the meeting, Acting Ambassador Boldin expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property caused by the flood in Rasuwa and extended condolences to the bereaved families and affected communities.
She said that the US government stands in solidarity with the Government of Nepal and the Nepali people during this difficult time and is ready to provide necessary support and cooperation for relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts.
