The election for House of Representatives members is being held nationwide on Thursday.
Voting will take place across the country from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at polling centers designated by the Election Commission, News Agency Nepal reported.
Voters must carry an identification document when they go to their polling center to cast their vote.
The Election Commission has arranged for voting through six different types of identification documents, provided the voter’s name appears on the voter roll, said Suman Ghimire, information officer at the commission.
According to Ghimire, if voters have the voter ID card issued by the commission, they must use that document.
“If that is not available, they must carry one of the following documents to vote: citizenship certificate, national identity card, passport, driver’s license, or land ownership certificate,” he said.
Separate queues will be arranged for men and women at polling centers.
“The commission has made special arrangements for persons with physical disabilities, senior citizens, pregnant women, postpartum women, and individuals who are unable to vote on their own due to physical difficulties,” he said.
Persons with physical disabilities, senior citizens, pregnant and postpartum women, and those facing difficulties in voting themselves can seek necessary assistance from the polling officer, assistant polling officer, assigned staff, or volunteers.
Ghimire said that the commission has directed staff deployed for voting duties to ensure a convenient and respectful environment for voters with disabilities and special needs while casting their ballots.
