The signatures of 65 outgoing lawmakers from the Nepali Congress have been submitted to the Supreme Court.
Among the 87 members of the dissolved House of Representatives from the party, 65 have submitted their signatures along with a supplementary petition seeking the reinstatement of the House.
According to Joint Registrar Arjun Prasad Koirala, spokesperson for the Supreme Court, the additional signatures were registered through their authorized representative, former attorney general Khamma Bahadur Khati.
"A petition with additional signatures has arrived. Hearing will be scheduled tomorrow along with the supplementary petition," Koirala said.
Previously, on December 9, a writ petition was filed by eight outgoing NC lawmakers, including Shyam Kumar Ghimire, the chief whip of the dissolved NC parliamentary party, and whip Sushila Thing.
The Supreme Court has already issued a show-cause order on the petition.
In addition to the NC lawmakers, independent lawmaker Yogendra Mandal and one lawmaker each from the Janata Samajwadi Party and Janamat Party have also signed in favor of House restoration.
CPN-UML chief whip Mahesh Bartaula and whip Sunita Baral had also filed a petition, followed by signatures from other UML lawmakers supporting House restoration.
With these additions, the total number of outgoing lawmakers from various parties seeking House restoration has reached 143.
