An agreement has been reached to unify the CPN (Unified Socialist) Reorganization Campaign led by Ghanashyam Bhusal and the CPN (United) led by Chandra Dev Jaishi.
The agreement was reached on Thursday during an event held in Tripureshwar, Kathmandu.
Both leaders have signed the agreement. The agreement states that the party unification will be announced within a few days.
The name of the party after unification will remain CPN (United). The party's election symbol will also be a sickle, the election symbol of CPN (United).
However, for the party flag, it has been agreed to use a symbol representing intellectual labor on the existing communist party flag.
According to the agreement, a national convention will be held within two months of unification and other matters will be decided based on necessary discussions.
The event was attended by Ghanendra Basnet, Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Ghanashyam Bhusal, among others, from the Unified Socialist.
Vice-chairman Mohammad Abbas, Laxmi Shah, and General Secretary Kedar Sharma represented the CPN (United).
