The CPN–UML has registered the party for the House of Representatives election.
Niraj Acharya, chief of the UML’s central election department, said that the party registered with the Election Commission on Tuesday. According to him, the UML has been registered as party number 66 for the House of Representatives election.
Although the UML had already registered for the National Assembly election earlier, it had not yet registered for the House of Representatives election.
Chairman KP Sharma Oli had said that the UML would participate in the election scheduled for March 5, 2026.
Talking to Nagarik daily’s editor-in-chief, Gunaraj Luintel, Oli said that the party has been preparing for the elections alongside the case concerning the reinstatement of the House of Representatives. Nagarik has published the news based on that interview.
Oli said that even though the UML will take part in the elections, the party’s bottom-line remains the reinstatement of the dissolved House of Representatives. In recent times, the party has been organizing street protests, gatherings, and rallies calling for public pressure to reinstate the House.
