CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that there will be no group-based or party-level unification with the dissatisfied faction of the CPN (Unified Socialist).
After the Unified Socialist decided on Friday to unify with the Maoist Center, respected leader Jhala Nath Khanal, General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal, standing committee member Ram Kumari Jhakri, and other leaders are dissatisfied and have begun efforts to form another party.
Amid speculation that this faction might join the UML, Chairman Oli, during the secretariat meeting held on Saturday, said that there would be no unification with such groups, but that if any individuals come personally, they would be welcomed.
“There won’t be unification with any particular group. I have spoken with them (the dissatisfied faction of the Unified Socialist). I have asked them to come. Even if ten or twenty people come individually, it will be on a personal level. Forming a separate group and then having a party unification between the UML and that group will not happen,” a leader quoted Oli as saying.
On Friday, Chairman Oli had also called on those who had left the UML in the past to return to their old home.
