Twenty-one vehicles that were being used by former officials and parliamentary officials have been returned to the Federal Parliament Secretariat.
According to Ekram Giri, spokesperson for the Parliament Secretariat, vehicles used by all former speakers except Taranath Ranabhat have been returned.
"The vehicles of former speakers Agni Sapkota, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, and Onsari Gharti have been returned," Giri said. "We have received information that the vehicle of former National Assembly chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina has been returned. The returned vehicle is in Pokhara."
Former speaker Ranabhat has said that he will return the vehicle soon, Giri said.
The Parliament Secretariat had been providing vehicle facilities to former speakers based on a Cabinet decision. However, former National Assembly chairman Timilsina had been using such facilities without a Cabinet decision.
The Parliament Secretariat said that vehicles provided to the chairs of House of Representatives committees and the whips and chief whips of parties have also been returned.
"Vehicles of the chairs of 10 thematic committees of Parliament have been returned," Giri said. "The chairs of two joint committees have also returned their vehicles."
The Parliamentary Hearing Committee, which also includes National Assembly members, and the Committee on Monitoring and Evaluation of the Implementation of the Directive Principles, Policies and Obligations of the State had House of Representatives members as committee chairs.
Giri said that 5 out of 7 vehicles being used by chief whips of major parties have been returned.
"Vehicles of chief whips Santosh Pariyar of the Rastriya Swatantra Party and Gyanendra Shahi of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party were burned," Giri said. "All others have returned their vehicles."
The interim government formed after the Gen Z movement of September 8 and 9 decided through a Cabinet decision to revoke the facilities being availed by former officials. The government made decisions ranging from disallowing personal secretaries for lawmakers to removing vehicle facilities for former officials.
