Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Sunday.
Foreign Secretary Misri held talks with PM Oli at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.
The discussions focused on promoting bilateral interests and matters of mutual concern.
Misri arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday morning for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Nepal's Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai.
During Misri’s stay in Kathmandu, the two foreign secretaries will hold discussions on various aspects of the Nepal-India partnership, with a focus on connectivity, development cooperation, and other matters of mutual interest, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Along with PM Oli, Misri is also scheduled to hold separate meetings with President Ram Chandra Paudel, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba.
Misri is in Nepal to discuss preparations for PM Oli’s upcoming visit to India and his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
PM Oli is scheduled to visit India on September 16 and return home September 17. During the visit, PM Oli is scheduled to meet his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in Bodh Gaya, Bihar.
Oli has not visited India since he was appointed prime minister on July 14, 2024.
