The CPN (Unified Socialist) has sought clarification from the party’s standing committee member Ram Kumari Jhakri over her remarks on party Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal.
On Saturday, Jhakri made remarks aimed at Chairman Nepal while addressing a Lumbini province gathering of the party's sister organization, Youth Federation Nepal, in Butwal.
"Legally and constitutionally, the chairman is facing problems. Many other party members are also facing issues. Now, we cannot walk around carrying a carcass on our shoulders," she said during the event.
She also proposed holding an early general convention to elect a new chairperson of the party.
Unified Socialist Chairman Nepal is accused of corruption in the sale and purchase of land belonging to Patanjali Yogpeeth and Ayurveda Company in Kavre.
The Special Court recently released him on a bail of Rs 3.5 million.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case in the Special Court against former prime minister Nepal and 92 others, accusing them of corruption in the purchase and sale of land registered in the name of Patanjali Yogpeeth and Ayurveda Company and exempted from land ceiling.
After her remarks against the chairman, the Unified Socialist's disciplinary committee has asked Jhakri to furnish clarification within three days.
Party Secretary Somnath Pandey told Setopati that the disciplinary committee had sought clarification from Jhakri.
