The suspended federal lawmaker from Parsa-3 Hari Narayan Prasad Rauniyar has asked general secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat why he was suspended.
The then Socialist Party Nepal lawmaker had filed an application one and a half years back seeking the reason for his suspension and asking for revocation of what he argued was an illegal suspension. He has asked the general secretary about progress on the application on Tuesday. He has stated that he had informed Speaker Agni Sapkota about the application after Sapkota assumed office.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat had suspended Rauniyar after the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) lodged a corruption case against the former chairman of controversial Pappu Construction.
The CIAA had lodged the corruption case against Rauniyar, his son Sumit Rauniyar and others at the Special Court after its investigation on complaints--that the company used substandard materials in construction of the bridge over Babai river in Bardiya, the bridge looked tilted right from the time of construction and was destroyed immediately after inauguration--found them guilty.
Rauniyar had filed the application with the Federal Parliament Secretariat on December 30, 2018 claiming that he was illegally suspended. He sought information about progress on that application on Tuesday after not getting response in over one and a half years.
Rauniyar argues that the decision is illegal as an elected people's representative need not be suspended merely after the CIAA lodges a corruption case, and adds that his suspension also violates the House of Representatives (HoR) regulations. He had filed the application seeking revocation of the 'illegal' suspension.
"Let me be informed about what action has been taken on my application," Rauniyar's latest application states.
