Over 50 federal lawmakers of ruling CPN have started a signature campaign for party unity.
Lawmaker Bishal Bhattarai said the lawmakers including those close to Prime Minister (PM) and CPN Chairman KP Sharma Oli, fellow Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal have collected signatures to put pressure on the warring chairmen, and will make their position clear organizing a press conference on Sunday.
Yagya Raj Sunuwar, who is close to Nepal, said the signatures and position will be made clear organizing a press conference at the parliamentary party office of the erstwhile Maoists in the afternoon. "We have gathered signatures to put pressure on the leaders pointing that the party should not be split in the current situation and unity instead should be bolstered," Sunuwar told Setopati.
The internal dispute in ruling CPN between Oli and Dahal, who is backed by senior leaders Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal, has been escalating in recent times. The cadres are worried that the party formed after unification of the then CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) may split due to the internal dispute.
