CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has accused fellow Chairman and Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli of getting CPN-UML registered with the Election Commission.
Speaking at a program to mark the death anniversary of CPN founder Pushpa Lal Shrestha on Friday, Dahal said that registration of the party showed that ruling CPN, formed after unification of the then UML and CPN (Maoist Center), is in a grave crisis.
He slammed Oli, without taking name, for sending cadres to the streets across the country to sing hymns in support and to attack Dahal and other opponents. He added that his supporters are also calling for such rallies but he has stopped them to try to save party unity. "This is not for post but a debate for procedure and system."
He expressed hope that the party will not split and pointed that the party cannot move forward with a few individuals cozying up to one another. He stressed that it can flourish only through principles and ideology.
He lamented that the government is currently running the party instead of the other way round. He claimed that he has not rejected the ideology of people's multiparty democracy, of the erstwhile UML, and asked his opponents to not raise a non-issue. He stated that the central commit should decide the issue of ideology and statute, and rued the confusion in lack of a central committee meeting for a long time.
He reiterated that no single individual should take credit for issuing the new map including the territory of Lipu Lekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura encroached by India. "The party instructed to issue new map. PM asked the chief secretary to add the issue when the secretariat meeting was going on," he added.
