Nepal and Bangladesh have been making efforts to further intensify the bilateral cooperation through communication and information technology.
Both the countries have been effortful to further consolidate ties at government-to-government and people-to-people level through cooperation and collaboration between their respective state-owned news agencies.
In a meeting held between Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS)'s Chairperson Harihar Adhikari 'Shyamal', its General-Manager Opendra Sharma and high-level management and Bangladeshi Ambassador to Nepal Mashfee Binte Shams at the central office of RSS Thursday, they discussed on the ways and means to take the five decades old Nepal-Bangladesh ties to a new height.
Bangladeshi envoy Shams said that the people-to-people contact between Bangladesh and Nepal could be further bolstered through the exchange of news and information between the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and RSS.
She was also of confidence that BSS could be a bridge to Nepal and vice versa.
"Around 30,000 Bangladeshi tourists have been visiting Nepal yearly," said the Bangladeshi envoy, adding, "The Motor Vehicles Agreement should be expanded to other SAARC member countries besides Nepal and Bangladesh which could aid in promotion of trade and tourism between Bangladesh and Nepal."
She pledged Bangladeshi support in further making RSS result-oriented and well-managed.
On the occasion, RSS Chairperson Shyamal said the partnership between the official news agencies of the both countries would support in bringing people in both countries further closer.
He viewed that since there were many similarities between Nepal and Bangladesh, both founder countries of SAARC, people in these two countries were very interested to know about each other. In such context, exchange of information and news through both countries' news agencies would advance this cause.
Stressing on the need to further defining the partnership between RSS and BSS in the changing times, he expressed his confidence that through the exchange of information and news between two countries could help satiate the hunger for knowledge and information of the people in these countries.
