Former Member of Parliament Narayan Bahadur Karki of Udayapur, who lost a leg in an ambush in the last general elections, has received financial support from two municipalities in the district. Student leader Mira Katwal, who lost a leg in the same incident, also received financial support.
The Triyuga municipality has provided Rs 400,000 to ex-MP Karki and Rs 1,00,000 to student leader Katwal. The municipality decided to provide them with financial support as they lost a leg each in an ambush during the election, said Mayor Baldev Chaudhary.
Karki and Katwal were taking part in an election campaigning during the 2017 general elections when the jeep they were traveling in was caught in an ambush at Danuwarbesi of Udayapurgadhi municipality. Both had one leg amputated in course of treatment at the TU Teaching Hospital.
Earlier, the Katari municipality also provided Rs. 300,000 to MP Karki and Rs. 100,000 to Katwal.
