One person has been killed after the police opened fire on the locals demanding justice for Nirmala Panta in Kanchanpur on Friday.
Shani Khuna, 14, was killed when police opened fire on the demonstrating locals to contain them near Chandan Chowk. Until the filing of this news, the situation in Mahendranagar is tense. Three others are also seriously injured.
Tension continued to escalate in Bhimdutta municipality of Mahendranagar after 13-year-old Panta was raped and killed. Her body was found in a sugarcane farm on July 27.
Police said they opened the fire on irate demonstrators after the later vandalized the traffic police office and district administration office.
The locals have been demonstrating for the past few days accusing the police of failing to arrest the real murderer of Nirmala Panta.
The local administration is preparing to impose curfew after the condition went out of control.
