Lawmakers have drawn the attention of the government to various contemporary issues. Speaking in the meeting of the National Assembly (NA) Monday, lawmakers urged the government to address the problems facing by natural disaster victims and farmers.
Lawmaker Badri Pandey urged the government to reach the reliefs to the landslide affected families in Bajura district. He said that hundreds of families are displaced by the landslide but government was failing to reach the reliefs at the affected areas.
Lawmaker Singh Bahadur Bishwakarma drew the government attention regarding to reconstruct a bridge over Tadi River of Bahrabishe municipality in Sindhupalchowk district.
Similarly, lawmaker Ramesh Jung Rayamajhi said that the farmers in tarai were facing acute shortage of fertilizers in the plantation season and it should be addressed soon.
Similarly, Binda Devi Ale said that she had gleaned information regarding the change in venue from the proposed National City Hall in Kathmandu to hold the upcoming 4th summit of the Bay of the Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) and opined that by doing so, a great economic loss could incur to the government.
She also demanded the government to attach great importance in putting forward the issue relating to the increasing foreign deficit and exemption of tax on the Nepali goods in the upcoming BIMSTEC summit.
Likewise, lawmaker Khemraj Nepali remarked that it was a pity for not being able to identify the culprit of the Jaante Secondary School incident, at Letang municipality in Morang district where the culprit had laced poison in the water tank supplying water to the same School on August 14.
Nepali demanded immediate arrest and stern action to the culprit. He viewed that although the government thwart the syndicate of the transport entrepreneurs, public were not able to realize it.
Lawmaker Yutole lamented that the victim of the fire incident at Gamgadhi in Mugu district May 13, were yet to receive the reliefs.
Meanwhile, today's meeting of the National Assembly has unanimously approved the 'Protection of Victim of Crime Bill-2075 BS'.
Minister for Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal had tabled the proposal seeking deliberation on the same Bill.
National Assembly Secretary Rajendra Phuyal also presented 'Public Security (First Amendment) Bill-2075 BS' with a message from the House of Representatives.
The next meeting of the Upper House is scheduled for Tuesday.
