An office-bearer of employee union close to the then CPN-UML has manhandled an under secretary inside the administrative center of the country Singha Durbar on Monday.
Vice-chairman of the civil servant association close to the then UML Jivan Bhandari punched Under Secretary Rishi Acharya at the employee administration section in the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration headed by Lal Babu Pandit inside the ministry itself.
“There was apparently a dispute on the issue of transfer of an officer,” Spokesperson at the ministry Suresh Adhikari told Setopati. “Acharya was punched and they tried to attack him with chair. Flower ports have been shattered.”
Minister Pandit and Secretary Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya were briefed immediately after the incident.
Ministry sources informed that Bhandari was putting pressure to correct posting of section officers.
Section Officer Netra Raj Giri, who was deployed to Dolpa, was refusing to accept the letter and Bhandari was putting pressure to deploy Giri to Jumla instead, according to a ministry source.
Acharya was attacked after the ministry refused to deploy the staffer, already deployed to Dolpa, to Jumla.
Bhandari is officer at the Department of Education.
