The Constitutional Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday to recommend new Chief Justice (CJ).
"The CC meeting is scheduled for tomorrow but the time has not yet been finalized," Press advisor to Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli Kundan Aryal told Setopati.
PM is the Chairman of the Council.
Earlier, the CC had recommended Deepak Raj Joshi to the post of chief justice on June 12. However, the Special Committee for Parliamentary Hearing on August 3 rejected him for the post.
The post of CJ has remained vacant after Gopal Parajuli was removed from the post.
Justices Om Prakash Mishra and Cholendra Shumsher Rana are the contenders for the post. To be appointed as chief justice, justices have to work for three years in the Supreme Court (SC). Only these two justices have worked for three years in the SC.
Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that the meeting scheduled for Wednesday will recommend the CJ.
"Tomorrow's meeting will recommend the names for the post of CJ. The post to lead the judicial system will not remain vacant," Dahal responded to a media person's question in Birgunj.
Dahal said the committee rejected Joshi to retain the parliamentary supremacy.
