Lawmakers have called the attention of the government to focus the repair of the Kodari Highway. They pointed out the need for resuming traffic along the Highway that was obstructed by the earthquake of April, 2015 by repairing on time.
They were speaking at Sunday's meeting of the House of Representatives. Lawmaker Agni Prasad Sapkota, taking special time in the meeting, complained that the road obstruction has largely restricted the movement of local people, and affected shipment of local agricultural products.
Likewise, Uma Regmi demanded compensation to the family of a 13-year-old of Bhimdatta Municipality-3 who was raped recently, and action against the rapist. She also drew the attention of the government to take action against gold smugglers.
Prem Suwal voiced concern about frequent increase of interest rate of the loan provided to the earthquake survivors by various banks and financial institutions. He also drew the attention of the Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management why construction of a bridge in Dadeldhura was not expedited.
Also, Bimal Prasad Sribastab expressed concern about National Medical College which was provided discount on large amounts in tax and demanded investigation into it.
Lawmaker Rajendra Kumar Rai shared the problem that the potato produced in Dhankuta district was not exported to India but stocked at Kakadbhitta customs.
He demanded the information why the export of potato was obstructed at customs office.
Similarly, another lawmaker Bharat Kumar Saha demanded that the agreement between the government and Dr Govinda KC be implemented in letter and spirit.
Voice was raised in the meeting, demanding stringent action against the culprits in the murder of a teenage girl at Bhimdutta Municipality-3 of Kanchanpur district. Even the compensation was demanded to the family of the victim.
Lawmakers Bharat Kumar Saha, Prem Suwal, Sarita Giri, Laxmi Pariyar and Bina Budhathoki demanded the action against the murder.
Water-induced disasters became another pressing issue in the parliament meeting. Lawmaker Bhairav Bahadur Singh drew government's attention on the closure of transportation in Bajhang district due to landslides.
The landslides had claimed four persons' lives from the same family. Even Thalala rural municipality had similar number of casualties, he reminded the government and demanded relief to the suffered families.
Lawmaker Rangamati Sahi argued that women suffered must after the women development offices were scrapped in the districts.
