Police on Tuesday intervened in a rally organized by Nepal Students Union, Padmakanya Campus Unit demanding the resignation of Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sher Bahadur Tamang.
Law Minister Tamang on Friday had claimed that Nepali girls studying MBBS in Bangladesh have to sell themselves to get the certificate while speaking at a program organized by Practice International Academy in Chuchchepati in Kathmandu.
The students affiliated to the unit participated in the rally stating that the minister's comments attacked on the chastity of Nepali female students studying medicine in Bangladesh.
According to Joint General Secretary of NSU Sadhana Ghimire, three protesting students including Pabitra Gauli, Chhaya Dhungana and Sujata Koirala were injured when police intervened the rally.
"We organized the rally to protest against the statement of Law Minister who attacked on the Nepali female students pursuing education in Bangladesh," Ghimire said, "But the police intervened in the rally."
