Chief Minister of Province no 1 Sherdhan Rai has said that a target has been set to welcome 500,000 foreign tourists in the province no 1 within next five years.
Speaking at an interaction organized by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, here Monday, Chief Rai said that foreign tourists would be attracted by developing necessary infrastructures in this regard.
He further said that the government has been carrying out activities with a target to bring in tourists of neighboring countries in the province after developing Biratnagar airport into a provincial one.
The Chief Minister also stressed the need of keeping the flax boards with the picture of tourism sites, specialty of the province as well as other information.
He said that necessary activities including land acquisition and other problems would be resolved for the expansion of Biratnagar airport within next six months. Different airlines companies operating their services in this province had participated in the interaction.
Social Affairs Minister Jeevan Ghimire, and Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forests and Environment, Jagadish Prasad Kusiyat were also present on the occasion.
Various decisions including formulating a master plan to make Biratnagar airport runway of 3,000 meters, operating mountain flight from Biratnagar airport, constructing commercial important person (CIP) room at airport and operating air service at Patna, Delhi and Mumbai of India from Biratnagar were made in the interaction.
