Prime Minister (PM) unified Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) KP Sharma Oli has clarified that he called Nepali Congress (NC) companion and not aide.
Speaking with an NC team including President Sher Bahadur Deuba at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar Wednesday evening, Oli has claimed that the media has twisted his statement resulting in criticisms.
NC lawmaker Minendra Rijal, who was present during the discussion, said PM Oli raised the issue himself. “NC has a long history. We have also worked together. I have, therefore, said companion party but they wrote it as aide,” Rijal quoted Oli as saying. “How can we say, ‘No you did say so’ when PM said that?” Rijal added.
Addressing a program organized at Balkhu in the morning on the day CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) unified on May 17, Oli had said NC is no longer a competitor but an assisting party.
Rijal said PM Oli also briefed NC about the security arrangements in the country. “We also discussed about the regulations for parliament but could not reach any conclusion,” Rijal said.
