Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and erstwhile CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal have reached the Election Commission (EC) for registration of the unified communist party.
PM Oli has submitted the application to Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadav for registration of Communist Party of Nepal (CPN).
The leaders reached at EC with signatures of the central committee members of the new party after the announcement of unification of UML and Maoist Center, and dissolution of their respective erstwhile committees.
Earlier, leaders Subas Chandra Nembang and Dev Gurung were tasked to go to the EC to start the registration process. The EC, meanwhile, said the party will not be registered as CPN if another party has already registered one in that name completing all the procedures.
