Former Prime Minister (PM) and Coordinator of Naya Shakti Party Nepal Baburam Bhattarai has called for generous welcome of Indian PM Narendra Modi.
"Let us not be stingy in welcome," Bhattarai said asking for special time in the House of Representatives (HoR) on Thursday. "The guest is equivalent to god in our culture. We must honor any guest coming from India, China or America. We should not insult them. But we must put national interest at heart while talking."
He pointed that Nepal must have cordial relationship with India and China, more so with the southern neighbor due to the geography, culture and history. "We have a compulsion to have a greater relationship with the southern neighbor. But there are more problems with whom we have greater relations. Let us resolve them," he advised.
He stressed that Nepal cannot be developed without a balanced relationship with India and China.
"I say from my heart, I have also got an opportunity to serve this country. Nepal will not prosperous no matter how much we try unless we maintain a balanced relationship," he added.
He opined that Nepal should bring investment from both the countries, and seek development by linking with the economy and value chain of both the countries.
