The welcome gate constructed at Janakpur to welcome Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has collapsed.
"The gate constructed at various places in Janakpur to welcome Modi was collapsed in the strong storms coupled with rainfall on early Wednesday morning," Chief Administrative Officer of Janakpur Sub-metropolitan City Madan Ghimire told Setopati.
"We've prepared from the past 10 days to welcome Indian PM Modi and for the civic felicitation. But the strong storms have damaged everything," Ghimire said, "There would be no damages if we've constructed iron gates. How can we know about such sudden storm? All the welcome gates made of bamboo have collapsed."
He said that the damages of over Rs 10,00,000 have been reported in the incident.
The storm has also knocked down the stage and tents built for offering civic felicitation to PM Modi.
"We cannot build the welcome gate and other places as we did earlier. Preparations are underway to build the welcome gate as soon as possible," Ghimire said.
Indian PM Modi is visiting Nepal on May 11.
