Hindi guru Srinivas Acharya has been arrested from Kathmandu on charge of getting himself shot.
Acharya was shot in the night on April 8 at Jatuwa, Biratrnagar where he had gone for a week-long religious function (Saptaha).
DSP with Morang Police Nishant Thapa told Setopati that Acharya was arrested from Kathmandu by a team of Morang Police after revelation following investigations that he had got himself shot.
Morang Police had arrested Madhav Chaudhary and Laxmi Adhikari on Thursday on charge of shooting at Acharya. The two gave statement that Acharya asked them to shoot him.
"The guru apparently was trying to fly to India from Kathmandu after knowing that the two have been arrested. We have arrested him from Kathmandu yesterday," SP with Morang Police Arun BC said.
Acharya, who stays at an ashram in Prakashpur, Sunsaru, is a leading figure among those campaigning to declare Nepal a Hindu state. He was arrested in August 2015 in course of the movement he started demanding Nepal be made a Hindu state.
