The central committee of Nepali Congress (NC) will take responsibility for the loss the party suffered in the federal and provincial elections late last year.
Central member Pradeep Paudel said the central committee meeting that has continued at the party’s central office in Sanepa for a month has decided to hold itself responsible for the defeat.
Leaders from Ram Chandra Paudel and Krishna Sitaula factions have been demanding that NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba should take responsibility for the loss claiming that the party lost due to Deuba’s working style.
Deuba, on his part, has been attributing the loss to left alliance, betrayal by party cadres and weaknesses of the candidates.
The central committee meeting has also dissolved the work performance committee and parliamentary committee.
Mahasamiti meeting of the party, meanwhile, will be convened in August, according to leader Pradeep Paudel.
