KB Gurung withdraws proposal for Deuba's candidacy two years later

Nepali Congress (NC) leader Kul Bahadur Gurung has withdrawn the proposal he made for candidacy of Sher Bahadur Deuba in the 13th general convention held two years ago. "I inform this august central committee meeting with sorrow that I have formally taken back my proposal of 13th general convention to make Deuba NC president from today," Gurung said speaking during the ongoing meeting at the party office in Sanepa for review of recent elections. He also submitted a written report in the meeting. Gurung had proposed candidacy of Deuba and late Khum Bahadur Khadka supported it during the 13th general convention held in March 2016. "There was a sign about defeat even during the local elections. We should have made electoral preparations after that. I had hopes that president would form the party departments and make preparations for the elections by resolving other problems. But my hopes were shattered," Gurung said.
