Mahantha Thakur to administer oath of office to HoR members

Mahindra Raya Yadav of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP) will not take oath of office and secrecy from President Bidhya Devi Bhandari as the senior-most member of House of Representatives (HoR). Talking to Setopati, Yadav confirmed that Mahantha Thakur of RJP Chairman Council will take oath of office from the President Bhandari on his own proposal. Yadav, who was born on June 29, 1954, was earlier set to administer oath of office to HoR members as an 80-year-old due to an error in his citizenship certificate which mentions he was born in 1938. Thakur is 75-year-old. President Bhandari will administer oath of office to oldest HoR member Mahantha Thakur and oldest member of National Assembly Tara Devi Bhatta at 1 pm Sunday. As many as 275 HoR members and 56 National Assembly members will be administered oath of office and secrecy today at 4 pm and 5:30 pm respectively, according to the Parliament Secretariat.
