Nepali Congress (NC) has postponed the meeting of work performance committee called for Thursday to Saturday and also called a parliamentary party meeting for the day.
NC Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma said both the meetings will be held at the parliamentary party office at Singha Durbar. "The work performance committee meeting was called to discuss amendment on the statute of parliamenatry party. But we have called both the meetings thinking that it is not right for the work performance committee to take decision on amendment of parliamentary party statute without discussing with the elected lawmakers," Sharma stated.
NC is preparing to amend the parliamentary party statute deeming that the statute drafted for Constituent Assembly (CA) will not work now. He revealed that the statute will be amended, and decisions will be taken on the process for formation of parliamentary party in the House of Representatives (HoR) and National Assembly, and how to coordinate between the leadeers of both the Houses.
The meeting will also decide the date and process for election of parliamentary party leader.
NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, General Secretary Shashank Koirala and Prakash Man Singh from the Ram Chandra Paudel faction have showed interest for parliamentary party leader until now.
The Paudel fatcion has presented Singh as a candidate to fight election while Koirala has been saying he is ready to take the responsibility if there is consensus for him. The Deuba faction has a majority in the parliamentary party.
