The Cabinet meeting being held at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar Friday afternoon is set to recommend Gopal Basnet, Chandani Joshi and Krishna Prasad Paudel to the National Assembly, a Cabinet Source told Setopati.
The President nominates three members on recommendation of the government to complete the 59-strong National Assembly. A total of 56 National Assembly members have already been elected from the seven provinces at the rate of eight members each.
Basnet is a Nepali Congress (NC) leader from Jhapa. He was secretary of Jhapa Congress and had left NC after Sher Bahadur Deuba split the party to form NC (Democratic).
Joshi, 72, is a former director for South Asia region of UN Development Fund for Women. She had also taught at Padma Kanya Campus.
Paudel is chief secretary of NC's central office. Paudel, who hails from Syangja, is also former president of Nepal Teachers Association, Kathmandu.
