CPN-UML leader and former minister Rajendra Pandey has withdrawn his claim for chief minister (CM) of Province 3 on Friday.
Pandey, who had claimed he is qualified for the post of CM during a program on Thursday, has withdrawn from the race in the eleventh hour. He did not file candidacy for parliamentary party leader.
UML is electing parliamentary party leader for Province 3 on Friday.
UML Vice-chairman Ashta Laxmi Shakya (Kathmandu) and Dor Mani Paudel (Makwanpur) have filed nominations for the election for parliamentary party leader, according to UML leader Rameshore Phuyal. The victor will become CM of the province as per the agreement with CPN (Maoist Center).
UML will get CM in four of the six provinces in which the left alliance has majority including Province 1, 3, 4 and 5. Maoist Center will get CM in Province 6 and 7.
