Modi will visit Nepal immediately after Oli becomes PM: Gyawali

CPN-UML Secretary Pradeep Gyawali has claimed that Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi will visit Nepal immediately after CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli becomes PM.

Claiming that bilateral relation of Nepal and India has improved after the visit of Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, he added that Modi will visit Nepal as both Oli and Modi have extended invitations to each other for visit over the telephone.

"Swaraj visited Nepal to dispel lack of trust while Modi telephoned Oli twice," Gyawali stated during a program organized by Reporters Club Nepal.

He revealed that Oli has reminded Modi about his unfinished pilgrimage of Muktinath and Janakpur, and invited Modi to visit Nepal.

He stated that Swaraj visited Nepal as per the wishes of India and added it is unfair to pass unnecessary remarks on her visit. "Swaraj came to congratulate on the left alliance winning majority and to offer for cooperation once the new government is formed. India wants to create an environment to cooperate with the new government," he added.

Reminding how Nepali leaders used to visit India before change of government in the past, he claimed that an Indian minister visiting Nepal this time instead is a positive. "This bad practice of Nepali leaders running to India before formation of new government has ended," he said.

He stated there are hints that India wants to review the Nepal policy it adopted after promulgation of the new constitution.

He also claimed, in another context, that the new government will be formed, and UML and CPN (Maoist Center) will unify by mid-March.
